Under a week to go now until Festival kick-off, with the first weekend screenings at the Tin Shed Cafe in Thirroul (about an hour south of Sydney and 20 minutes from Wollongong - limited seating) on Saturday night, and the Elephant & Wheelbarrow Pub in Paddington, Sydney, from 4pm on Sunday.

Tickets to Super Saturday on the final day of the festival, 5 November, are available from various places - for the Home Brewed Seminars (details below), the booking form is on our Seminars page and you can also buy tickets at the door on the day (the Illawarra Steelers Club in Wollongong). Tickets to the evening screenings of our 0-10 and 10-30 Minute finalists at the Illawarra Performing Arts Centre, can be purchased online at www.ipac.org.au or by phoning the box office on (02) 4226 3366.

The Seminar Program is shaping up to be a great day - $15 per session or $50 for the day, with concessions available at $10/$40 for students. The Program includes:

  • 11am CREATING AND MARKETING YOUR SHORT FILM & OTHER MEDIA
    Presented by filmmakers Peter Slee and Daniel Ilic, this session will cover short film-making with and without budgets, how to apply for funding, moving into features, internet marketing and content, and commercials.

  • 12pm PRODUCING A FEATURE
    Louise Smith, producer of award winning short films and co-producer of the feature THE RAGE IN PLACID LAKE starring Rose Byrne and Ben Lee, talks about the producing experience.

  • 1.30pm WRITING FOR FILM & TV
    Ian David, who wrote the critically acclaimed BLUE MURDER and the ABC tv series BAD COP BAD COP, talks about writing for film and television.

  • 2.30pm INDIVISION PROJECT LAB
    Megan Simpson Huberman- Australian Film Commission
    INDIVISION is an AFC initiative to foster low budget feature filmmaking in Australia. Come along and learn about the process designed to make your feature filmmaknig dreams come true.

  • 3.30pm WRITING & DIRECTING YOUR FIRST FEATURE
    Megan Simpson Huberman talks about writing and directing her first feature film, DATING THE ENEMY which starred Claudia Karvan and Guy Pearce.
