Prize money in 2006 will include $5,000 cash for each of the Best Short Films in our under 10 minute and 10-30 minute short film categories. An independent judging panel will again be reviewing shortlisted films to award the cash, and we look forward to some exciting announcements of our panellists later in the year.
Our sister festival SNOWYfest, which takes place every year in the weekend following the opening of the ski season in Australia's premier ski resort Thredbo, is winding up its entries for 2006. For those of you who haven't checked it out recently (or at all), see www.snowyfest.com for details of the $4,000 in cash prizes and entry form downloads. SNOWYfest has already partnered with Withoutabox, so you can click on the BrigitFest image just above, register on the site and get entering! Entries close on 31 March 2006.
The Garth Method, directed by Greg Pakis, was one of Home Brewed's first ever Feature Films, screening at Greater Union cinemas in Wollongong, in the 2nd year of the Festival. As part of a fantastic initiative known as films4charity, The Garth Method has some upcoming screenings at The Old Colonial Inn, 127 Brunswick St Fitzroy (near Gertrude St), Victoria, Australia. Screening dates and a blurb from the organisers are below. For more info about the film, the dates and location of the screenings and to see a trailer for the film, visit www.thegarthmethod.com.
2004 and 2005 Home Brewed award winners "Splintered" and "The Saviour" (proudly Australian-made) have gone on to bigger and better things, taking out one of the top prizes in subsequent years shortly after their Home Brewed success, at the prestigious US Slamdance Film Festival. The films also achieve Academy Award eligibility through their overseas success and the Home Brewed Team wishes the film directors, producers, cast and crew all the very best for what is looking like a fantastic future.
